Industrial Water
We supply specialist grades of both powdered and granular activated carbon and anthracite for Industrial Water solutions.
Industrial Water Treatment
Activated Carbon Technologies offers a comprehensive suite of products tailored to the specific needs of the industrial wastewater treatment industry. Our products can be strategically employed to address identified individual chemical compounds and pollution incidents. Recognizing the unique nature of each situation, we can facilitate coordinated laboratory testing and pilot-scale operations, thereby providing the optimal activated carbon grade to meet your precise requirements.
Utilizing the appropriate product will effectively reduce toxicity and enable the safe discharge or reuse of wastewater. Our activated carbon products can efficiently eliminate common organic contaminants, including:
- Organic matter (COD)
- Pharmaceuticals (e.g., carbamazepine, diclofenac, sulfamethoxazole)
- Personal care products (PPCPs), such as galaxolide and nonylphenol
- Iodinated contrast media (e.g., iopromide)
- BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene)
- Phenols
- Perfluorinated alkylated substances (PFAS)
- Colors
- Absorbable Organic Halides (AOX)
- Agricultural chemicals such as pesticides
- Surfactants
Granular Activated Carbon
for Industrial Water
Granular activated carbon is used in a filter through which the water is gravity fed. The GAC is regularly backwashed to control head loss and to regulate the biology. GAC will not need to be replaced until it is exhausted which typically takes several years in adsorption or 10-15 years for BACs.
Powdered Activated Carbon
for Industrial Water
Powdered activated carbon is dosed into the water in small amounts (3 to 50 mg/litre, duty dependent) and removed downstream within the sludge.
For water treatment plants with a 10 minutes or more contact time we recommend using our Acticarb PS1000.
For water treatment plants with less than 10 minutes contact time we recommend using our 325 mesh Acticarb PS1300F.
Anthracite
for Industrial Water
Anthracite is used in a filter through which the water is gravity fed to remove suspended solids / turbidity. The anthracite is regularly backwashed when head loss increases and does not need to be replaced until particle size has eventually reduced due to the abrasive effect of backwash – this will take many years (typically 15-20 years for premium ultra hard high rank anthracitic coal).
