Sewerage Control
We supply specialist grades of pelletised activated carbon (Pellets) for odour control, primarily hydrogen sulphide (H2S), from sewage plants, pump stations and other similar applications.
Removal of Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) from sewage plants and composting
Municipal wastewaters and green recycling energy recovery systems contain a wide range of airborne contaminants that can disrupt the delicate balance of the environment. If released untreated, these contaminants pose significant risks to processing equipment and negative impacts on human health, plant life, and wildlife.
Hydrogen Sulphide in a humid environment such as sewerage pump stations can have an extremely corrosive effect on exposed surfaces.
Siloxanes are extremely detrimental to energy recover systems.
Activated Carbon Technologies’ activated carbons effectively reduce these contaminants, ensuring that the air is safe for handling and discharge.
Our carbons can reduce the following:
- H2S (Hydrogen Sulphide)
- Mercaptans
- VOCs
- Siloxane

Anthracite
for Sewerage Odour Control
Anthracite is used in a filter through which the sewerage water is gravity fed to remove suspended solids / turbidity. The anthracite is regularly backwashed when head loss increases and does not need to be replaced until particle size has eventually reduced due to the abrasive effect of backwash – this will take many years (typically 15-20 years for premium ultra hard high rank anthracitic coal).
