Methyl Bromide
We supply specialist grades of granular (GAC) for the removal of Methyl Bromide (MeBr) from fumigation systems.
Removal of Methyl Bromide (MeBr) from fumigation systems
Although Methyl Bromide (MeBr) has been phased out by many countries however, there are still some exceptions to it use that mean activated carbon should be used to remove the Methyl Bromide from fumigation systems to prevent: –
Ozone Layer Depletion: Methyl bromide is a potent ozone-depleting substance. When released into the atmosphere, it breaks down the ozone layer, which protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Increased UV exposure can lead to higher rates of skin cancer, cataracts, and harm to ecosystems.
Human Health Risks: Methyl bromide is highly toxic to humans. Exposure can cause severe health effects, including respiratory problems, neurological damage, and skin irritation. High levels of exposure can be fatal. Workers handling methyl bromide in fumigation are particularly at risk.
Environmental Impact: Methyl bromide can persist in the environment, contaminating soil and water. It can harm non-target organisms, including beneficial insects, plants, and animals, disrupting ecosystems
Granular Activated Carbon
for Methyl Bromide
For the removal of Methyl Bromide from fumigation systems we recommend using our cost effective Acticarb GS900 or the more traditional coconut based Acticarb GC1200 products. The GAC is used as a filter in the vent from the fumigation system.
